What is trendy this season? Besides pastels and floral, pointed toe shoes have been big hits on catwalks and runways. However, behind the glamorous style, there is a myth thatthese shoes may lead to hallux valgus. According to the definition, Hallux valgus is a deformity condition that the big toe tilts toward the smaller toes by more than 15°.
A professional physical therapist pointed out that, there is no medical evidence that pointed toe shoes can really cause hallux valgus. However, since the shoes are so tight they squeeze the feet and cause pain. The problem of hallux valgus is mainly structural. A person with flat feet or tight heel tendons can easily have hallux valgus. When the person stands up all walks, too much pressure comes down and cause the big toe to tilt. This will hurt a lot. Applying ice for 10 to 15 minutes then massage the feet can help. Splints or insoles are also good ideas.
If the toes are hurting too much, you may try Rainbow Nails aromatherapy foot massage. It will improve circulation and relieve tightness on the feet. Have a proper posture can also help!
